Call for Application: NeurotechEU scholarships for PhD students and postdocs

Karolinska Institutet invites PhD students and postdocs of all NeurotechEU partners to apply for an immersive training opportunity in Stockholm: INCF FAIR Neuroscience Summer School 2025.  The summer school is scheduled to take place from August 25-26, 2025, and will focus on FAIR neuroscience tools and practices. Participants will explore cutting-edge methods for data sharing, analysis, visualisation and simulation, all in line with the FAIR principles.

This is an open event, welcoming researchers from all over the world — making it a fantastic chance to build your network across neuroscience and neurotech communities. 

This Summer School offers participants a comprehensive introduction to the advanced tools and techniques for data sharing, analysis, visualisation, and simulation. Participants will be provided with an introduction to FAIR neuroscience and with a general introduction to the EBRAINS Research Infrastructure's ecosystem of tools and services, as well as hands-on tutorials covering the management and analysis electrophysiology data using Neo and Elephant, how to use EBRAINS atlas services with the Siibra Tool Suite and Voluba, and simulations with NEST and NEST Desktop. No prior experience with the EBRAINS Research Infrastructure is required. In addition to the tutorials, there will also be an introductory level Python Programming tutorial for neuroscientists.

How can I secure a place on one of the courses?

If you’re interested in participating in the summer school, please register here. Participation can only be guaranteed once the Karolinska Institutet has approved your participation as the application will go on a first-come, first-served basis. Apply now – places are limited. 

After being accepted by the Karolinska Institutet, Bonn students have the opportunity to apply for a NeurotechEU scholarship. In order to apply for a scholarship, you must be a doctoral student employed at the University of Bonn/ University Hospital Bonn.

To be considered for a NeurotechEU scholarship for the FAIR Neuroscience Summer School in Stockholm, please submit the following documents to our NeurotechEU Project Office:

  • Letter of acceptance from Karolinska Institute
  • Motivation letter (max. one page)
  • CV
  • Verification of your current status at Uni Bonn/University Hospital Bonn

NeurotechEU will cover accommodation and travel expenses for the duration of the two-day summer school. Following confirmation from KI, please submit your application documents in one PDF file to Ms. Sina Loos (s.loos@uni-bonn.de). 

Following the summer school, the scholarship holders are expected to create a testimonial about their experience with NeurotechEU (further information will be provided in due course).
