Exciting news for PhD students! 

Karolinska Institutet opens a range of doctoral courses in Neuroscience and Neurotechnology for the Fall 2025 semester to all NeurotechEU students. These courses are primarily designed to support the academic development of PhD students and complement their individual study plans, but postdocs are also welcome to apply. Please note that all courses will be held on-site in Stockholm, Sweden, there’s no option to attend online.

How can I secure a place on one of the courses? 

If you’re interested in one of the doctoral courses, make sure to submit your application – including your CV and a brief motivation letter – explaining how the course aligns with your research and academic goals to neurotech@ki.se. The application deadline is one month before the course begins. Please note: each doctoral course has a different application deadline).

Participation in the course can only be guaranteed once the Karolinska Institutet has approved your participation as the application will go on a first-come, first-served basis. So be quick and apply as soon as possible!

After being accepted into one of the courses offered by the Karolinska Institutet, Bonn students have the opportunity to apply for a scholarship. In order to apply for a scholarship, you must be a doctoral student employed at the University of Bonn/ University Hospital Bonn.  

How to apply for a scholarship?

To receive a NeurotechEU scholarship for the Doctoral Course in Stockholm, please send the following documents to our NTEU Project Office:

  • Letter of acceptance from Karolinska Institute
  • Motivation letter (max. one page)
  • CV
  • Verification of your current status at Uni Bonn/University Hospital Bonn

NeurotechEU will cover accommodation and travel expenses for the duration of the five-day courses. If one of the offers piques your interest, please send your application documents immediately after confirmation by KI in one PDF file to Ms. Sina Loos (s.loos@uni-bonn.de). 

Following the course, the scholarship holders are expected to create a testimonial about their experience with NeurotechEU (more information to follow!).
