This school provides a comprehensive and focused overview of preclinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Spectroscopy, emphasizing translational neuroimaging. The program covers the entire spectrum, from the technical aspects of MRI hardware and the fundamental principles of image formation to the biological origins of different imaging contrasts. Participants will gain a solid understanding of widely used techniques such as relaxometry, diffusion-based imaging, and functional MRI, while exploring their biological underpinnings and key applications in biomedical and neuroscientific research. Artificial intelligence (AI) applications will be introduced for both data collection and analysis, highlighting its transformative role in modern neuroimaging.

Key Topics

  • preclinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Spectroscopy, emphasizing translational neuroimaging
  • relaxometry, diffusion-based imaging, and functional MRI
  • biological underpinnings and key applications in biomedical and neuroscientific research
  • image preprocessing, data acquisition, and analysis

Program Structure

Over the course of three days, the School will feature:

  • theoretical sessions
  • practical sessions

Target Group

  • Bachelor students
  • Master students
  • PhD candidates

All target groups must be either NeurotechEU students or University of Bonn employees. Candidates from other study programs or institutions are not eligible. Synapses participants are particularly encouraged to apply.

Selected participants will receive a fully funded NeurotechEU scholarship to cover travel and accommodation expenses.

How can you apply?

To be considered for a NeurotechEU scholarship for the School at Universidad Miguel Hernández, please send the following documents to the NTEU Project Office Bonn by the given deadline:

  • Motivation letter (max. one page)
  • CV
  • Transcript of Records of your current study program (This applies to Bachelor’s and Master‘s students)
  • Verification of your status at Uni Bonn

If you are eager to explore preclinical Magnetic Resonance Imaging and spectroscopy, broaden your knowledge, and experience intercultural exchange in the vibrant city of Elche, please submit your application by September 16, 2026 in one PDF file by e-mail to Ms. Sina Loos: Neurotecheu-Assist@verwaltung.uni-bonn.de

Following the School, all scholarship holders are expected to create a testimonial about their experience with NeurotechEU (more information to follow!).
